Bathroom Cleaning
There are a couple things that I didn’t go over in my first post Bathtub Cleaning that I want to add here. Things like cleaning grout, chrome faucets and shower heads and then the rest of the bathroom. If you need to clean the grout between tile, make a thick paste using 2 cups baking soda, 1 cup borax and 1 cup hot water. If you need to add more water, add about 1/4 teaspoon at a time to make the paste. Using a soft brush, apply the paste and scrub. Rinse well.
Is your shower head not spraying water like it use to? Try this little trick. Pour some vinegar into a plastic bag and tie it around the shower head using a bread tie. Let set overnight or all day. Remove the baggie. The vinegar will cut through the hard water deposits. For stubborn hard water deposits, you might need to take a soft brush across the shower head to knock it loose.
Water spots on a chrome faucet can be quite annoying. Try wiping a little white vinegar on the faucet with a white cloth or sponge. Then take a USED fabric softener sheet and dry the faucet. You can use Rubbing alcohol in place of the white vinegar and it will do just as wonderful a job.
Now on to the rest of your bathroom…
When you use hairspray, it gets all over the place…your walls, mirrors, floors, etc. But you can clean this hairspray off of these things with this easy solution.
Pour 1/3 cup liquid fabric softener and 2/3 cups of water into a spray bottle, shake gently to mix. Spray on the area you want to clean and wipe with a damp rag or sponge. Depending on how long between cleanings, you might need to do this a couple of times.
To clean your toilet use Tang breakfast drink. You heard me correct. Sprinkle a few Tablespoons of Tang into your toilet bowl. Let it sit overnight (if you have a pet that likes to drink out of the toilet, you will want to put the lid down to keep them out). In the morning, run a toilet brush under the rim and around and flush.
Don’t have Tang? How about using Denture Cleaning tablets? Drop a couple tablets in your toilet bowl and let sit overnight, swish with a toilet brush and flush.
Does your toilet have hard water stains? Turn the valve to your toilet off (this is the little knob on the wall behind your toilet). Flush your toilet to get rid of the water. Spray white vinegar all over the inside of the toilet and then sprinkle some borax over the vinegar. Let this solution soak for about 30 minutes and then scrub with fine sandpaper (drywall sandpaper works great). Again, depending on how bad it is, you may have to repeat this process.
