Facials – Done at Home

Facials don’t have to be expensive and you don’t have to leave the comfort of your home to get one.  Invite some friends over and have a girls day.  Give each other a natural facial.

  1. All facials start with clean skin.  Mix 1 teaspoon plain yogurt and 1/2 teaspoon honey together.  Massage into your face.  Avoid the eye area.  Use a warm cloth to remove this cleaner from your face.  Honey is an antibacterial cleaner and yogurt has lactic acid which is great for your skin.
  2. For a wonderful facial exfoliate scrub, mix the yolk of one egg and 1 Tablespoon instant oatmeal in a bowl.  Add a teaspoon of warm water at a time if you want the consistency to be smoother.  Massage the scrub into your face, gently, using upward circles.  Do this for a few minutes and wipe off with a warm cloth.  You should do these facial scrubs about twice a week.  Once done follow with toner and moisturizer.
  3. Witch Hazel can be used as an inexpensive toner for most all skin types.  You can find Witch Hazel next to the Rubbing Alcohol in most stores.  Use a cotton ball and apply it to your face.  Let dry.
  4. A facial mask should be used once a week to help remove dead skin cells and give you a healthy glow.  An acid mask that is great for all types of skin is a Tomato paste mask.  Rub the tomato paste all over your face and let sit for 5 minutes.  Then rinse with warm water.  Do this before you use your toner and moisturizer.

Make sure you plan out your week, so that you don’t use the facial mask on the same day you are using your facial scrub.  Doing them on the same day could cause some facial irritation.
