Common Kitchen Cures

Open up your kitchen cabinets and you might just see a cure for what ails you.  Here are some common ailments and what you kitchen cures will help take care of them…

Do you have a toothache?  Try this…Make a thick paste using 1/8 teaspoon of ground clove and a couple drops of water.  Once the paste is made, you will want to put it on the sore gum area.  Keep the paste on your gum for about 5 to 10 minutes.  Don’t swallow the paste.  After about 10 minutes, spit it out.  If needed, repeat.  Be careful not to get this paste in your eyes and do not us on young children and babies.

Do you have a sore throat?  Try this…In a small bowl, mix 1/2 Tablespoon honey, 1/2 Tablespoon lemon juice (make sure you use fresh lemons) and 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper.  Mix well.  Scoop mixture on a spoon and suck mixture off the spoon.  Do this slowly so that the ingredients have time to ease your sore throat.  Repeat if needed.

Do you have acne or a rash?  Try this…Take 1/2 teaspoon of Powdered Turmeric and a couple drops of water to make a thin paste.  Spread this paste on your blemishes/rash and let sit for about an hour.  This is also great for sunburns.

Do you have diarrhea?  Try this…Cook 1 cup of rice in 4 cups of water.  Drain the water off and into another container.  Drink the rice water (hot or cold)…This is good if you have a stomach virus or are suffering from a mild case of food poisoning.

So there you have some simple tips from your kitchen to help ease your ailments.  A book that I have always found very useful is Joey Green’s Kitchen Cures.  This is the book that I used when I was first learning about kitchen cures and I still pull it out every now and again.
