Oily Hair
Blondes and people with very fine hair have the most problems with oily hair. So what can you do to prevent oily hair? Several things will help…Wash your hair at least once a day. Make sure the shampoo you use is clear and see-through. These tend to clean away the oil better. You also want to give your head a good scalp massage just before getting into the shower. If you have really oily hair, leave the shampoo on your head for about 5 minutes and then rinse and re-shampoo. This double cleansing will help wash away even more oil.
Don’t use a conditioner if you have oily hair. Conditioner will tend to make your hair become even more oily by the end of the day. If you do feel you just can’t go without conditioner, look for an oil free conditioner and only put it on the tips of your hair, avoiding the roots.
You can help keep your hair from getting oily by mixing equal parts of witch hazel and mouthwash (plain mouthwash). Using a cotton ball dab this mixture directly on your scalp. Do this before each shampooing.
You don’t want to overbrush your hair. This can draw out more oil which causes your hair to become oily. You can also blow dry your hair in different ways. Try to blow your hair against the way it wants to go. This will give your hair a lift and will help ‘hide’ the oily hair.
Kitchen Cures:
- Mix a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar with a pint of water and use as a final rinse. Once your hair is dry, you will not smell the vinegar.
