Stress – Natural Cures

Stress is something that can sneak up on us and hit us before we know it.  There’s stress at work and home.  Stress over paying the bills, illness in the family, etc.  So we need to learn how to rid ourselves of as much stress as we can.

Stress can make us unhealthy so don’t let stress get the best of you.

An inexpensive stress ball can be made by blowing up a balloon only slightly, and then filling it with flour or sand.  Tie a knot in the balloon and there you have it…a quick and easy stress ball.

Scents can also help ease stress and Vanilla is one of the most soothing scents to most people.  You can take a small film canister and put a few cotton balls that have been soaked in vanilla inside it.  The container will be small enough to carry with you or to keep in your desk at work.  If the stresses of the day are getting you down, just pull it out and take a deep breath.  The scent will calm you down.  Think about something relaxing when you are doing this to make the stresses go away for even longer.  If you have a long drive to and from work, open the canister up, put it in your drink cup holder, put on some soothing music and let the drive home be a mini-relaxing drive.  By the time you get home, you won’t be stressed anymore.

If you feel a tension headache coming on, gently massage some BenGay into your temples.

If you are still stressed when you get home, try a soothing bath.  Soaking in a warm bath with a mixture of baking soda, Epsom salt and regular table salt will ease sore muscles and help you relax.  Make sure you have some music playing that you enjoy and turn the lights down and light some candles.  Soak away those stresses, and when you let the water out, let those stress go down the drain.
