Windows – Cleaning them the right way
How frustrating is it, when you clean the windows, stand back and see streaks? All that work for nothing…Today, I’m going to share some simple tips to help you have the cleanest windows in your neighborhood and it won’t cost you a lot of money either…First, you want to start with the right cleaner. Mix 1/4 cup of white vinegar to 1 quart of water. Pour into a spray bottle and there you go. No expensive store bought cleaner will work as well as this mixture. The vinegar will cut through the grease and grimes that might be on your windows and leaves them shiny. No harsh chemicals either.
Second, you need the right kind of cleaning tool. The best window cleaning tool is your old newspaper. You heard me. Crumple up that newspaper…make sure you don’t use the section with the colored ink. Use only the white page with black ink. So spray on your vinegar solution and wipe down with your crumpled newspaper. You will love how your windows look…trust me.
Third, you have to clean your windows at the right time. On a cloudy day, you will be able to see every smudge and fingerprint on the window. So this will make it easier to clean. You don’t want your windows to dry too fast. This will leave streaks, so don’t clean them on hot, sunny days.
And last, make sure you clean both sides of your windows (inside and out). When you clean the outside, move your crumpled paper from left to right and when you clean the inside, move your crumpled paper up and down. By doing this, you will be able to see those pesty smears better…and if the smear is going up and down, then you will know you have to clean only the inside of your window again.
This way, if there is a smear, you will know which side it is one and you can take care of it.
